Monna Lisa × Ay
The fabrics in this collection are printed using EPSON’s sustainable textile printer “Monna Lisa.” This state-of-the-art digital textile printing system redefines the conventional analog dyeing process—eliminating printing plates, minimizing ink waste, and reducing water consumption by up to 97%.
Unlike traditional dyeing methods that require large amounts of water and chemicals, Monna Lisa enables on-demand production, printing only what is needed, when it is needed. This not only reduces environmental impact but also creates a safe and humane production environment, as workers no longer come into direct contact with chemical inks.
Through this collaboration, Ay and EPSONhave archived and digitally revived the once-discontinued silk textile Isesaki Meisen.
The fabric’s playful color palette and delicate kasuri patterns—once only achievable through hand weaving—are now faithfully reproduced on silk with the precision of Monna Lisa’s high-resolution inkjet technology, capturing even the subtlest nuances of thread movement and color gradation.
Where tradition meets technology, Ay’s new innovation is born.
It is a symbol of how a lost fabric can breathe once again as a textile for the future — “Tradition is revolution.”

すでに生産が途絶えた絹織物「伊勢崎銘仙」の図案をアーカイブし、デジタル技術の力で蘇らせる――それがAyとEPSONによる共同プロジェクト。伊勢崎銘仙の持つ遊び心のある色彩やデザイン、繊細な絣（先染めの平織物の特徴）を、シルク素材に忠実に再現しました。MONNA LISAの高精度インクジェット技術により、微細なグラデーションや糸の揺らぎまで、美しく再構築されています。
伝統とテクノロジーが交差する場所に、Ayの新しい革新が生まれました。それは、失われた織物が未来のテキスタイルとして再び息づく、「Tradition is revolution」の象徴です。

本コレクションの生地は、EPSONのサステナブル捺染機「Monna Lisa（モナリザ）」によってプリントされています。「Monna Lisa」は、従来のアナログ染色工程を一新するデジタルテキスタイルプリントシステム。刷版が不要で、インクロスを最小限に抑え、水使用量を最大97％削減。従来の染色で必要だった大量の水や化学薬品を使わず、必要な時に必要な分だけをオンデマンドで生産することで、環境負荷を大幅に軽減。インクに直接触れることのない安全な作業環境を実現し、職人にもやさしいものづくりを可能にしています。
